The Story of My Husband and the Skunk
A favorite true story.
A long time ago when my husband was a teenager, he would be at the neighbors’ house late at night. They all figured out that they could stretch out on their bellies and feed the raccoons that would come by on their concrete porch, often enough that they all got used to each other. On one such night, he laid down with a chicken leg in his hand. The raccoons came, but started to back away when there was some rustling in the bushes. A skunk came out! They realized they had to be very, very still so they wouldn’t get sprayed. The skunk took the chicken leg, and they never fed the raccoons again!
Child’s fictional embellishment:
And then the skunk turned around and farted in his face!
The game
Made up by the kids!
One child is the skunk.
The other children hold something in their hands to represent the chicken leg, such as some grass or a leaf.
The skunk pretends to eat the food out of the others’ hands, and if it sees any movement, it turns around and pretends to fart on that player!
