Mammals and More!

I hope you have been able to enjoy your summer.

Outside School Summer Camp 2021 has come to a close, and we had a blast! Since we had a stable group throughout, some close friendships formed and the group became really cohesive. One favorite activity was storytelling, which various group members undertook at mealtimes. The children couldn't wait for the next chapters in one friend's days-long story sequence, and thoroughly enjoyed the choose-your-own-adventure style another child told. The children's voices are heard, their confidence is boosted, and they're developing public speaking skills they'll hold their whole life long.

Another special aspect of camp was all the mammals we got to witness! It seems like a special treat every time we come across some. We never know what we're going to see...

Community and Resources

If you're on instagram, check out this adorable fellow, Goblin Jimmy! His tales of adventures are created so sweetly. (@adventures_of_goblin_jimmy).

Also check out Outside School friends, The Table. They have meals for individuals and families, and do catering as well. Chef Peter takes a lot of care in sourcing his ingredients, and supports local farmers and ranchers. My husband enjoyed having nights off from cooking on some school nights when I ordered up their dinners! (https://www.thetablecatering.com/)

Ooh! Little white paws 'n' claws on this gopher who enjoyed some nearby grasses being hand delivered!

While we were eating snack one day, this little deer mouse came out of the rock wall to forage and groom itself, dwarfed in size by the nearby bay leaves. Its head and eyes seem disproportionately huge, like an anime character. How cute is this little thing?!

Be well!
Take care,
Heather
